Assessment Community Weekly 05/14/18

Urgent: Help the mobile home and co-op owners in your jurisdiction receive their STAR credit checks easier and faster

If you haven’t already provided your mobile home and co-op spreadsheets, please do so by Friday, May 18.

We know this is a very busy time of the year for you. However, if we don’t receive your completed spreadsheets, checks to those homeowners will be delayed. The unit or lot owners will be required to provide us with the information that we would otherwise receive from the assessor.

For spreadsheets and detailed instructions, see Send the mobile home and co-op spreadsheets to the Tax Department.

If you have questions, contact ORPTS Regional Liaisons.

Three updates: Enhanced STAR Income Verification Program

RP-425-IVP forms that you’ve received

The IVP application Online Assessment Community is in editing mode. Please enter the data from IVP applications at your convenience.

New STAR exemption applications

As we do each year, in early June we’ll provide you with updated STAR exemption applications. As part of that, we’ll revise Form RP-425-E and Form-RP-425-Rnw to reflect the new provisions. In the meantime, if a property owner inquires about applying or reapplying for an Enhanced STAR exemption, please inform them that they will also be required to provide you with Form RP-425-IVP, Application for the Enhanced STAR Income Verification Program, and either:

Of course, those who have recently moved or who are receiving the STAR credit will continue to be eligible for the credit, rather than the exemption.

IVP provision implementation

We are working on the final details for implementation of the mandatory Enhanced STAR Income Verification provisions. We are meeting with RPTAC early this week, and will have more information to you as soon as possible.
