To learn more about each tool, see the description below.

Municipal Profiles

Visit Municipal Profiles to find local contact information for your municipality, school district, and county. You’ll also find equalization rates, assessment roll dates, statistics, and more.

Once in Municipal Profiles, to browse to a jurisdiction:

Select the county from the map or select Counties below the map.
Choose a municipality from the county map or select Municipalities below the county map.

Or you can search for the local jurisdiction of your choice. To search:

Select the magnifying glass in the upper-right corner of your screen.
Type the name of the jurisdiction in the search box.
Choose the jurisdiction from the options provided.
Select Search.

If your search is not successful, enter the official name of the city, town, village, or school district or use a browse option.

Sales Web

Sales Web includes 10 years of property sales and transfers for all of New York State, except New York City. (For New York City sale information, visit the city’s Automated City Register Information System.)

We update Sales Web weekly with new property sales as local governments transmit the data to us. In some cases, it may be several weeks before a new sale is transmitted and made available on Sales Web.

To download the results of a search as an Excel file, scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Download Search Results.

Q. What is the source of the Sales Web data?

A. When a property sells in New York State, the buyer or seller files the deed and Form RP-5217, Real Property Transfer Report, with the county clerk. After reviewing it for completeness, the county forwards the form or the form’s data to our department. Local officials then review the details of the sale and confirm or correct the data with our department.

Q. Is the data accurate?

A. We make every effort to publish current and accurate information. We compare sales information to assessment roll files to ensure accuracy. In addition, local officials review the data for errors. Note: As a result of the corrections process, the data in Sales Web is subject to change.

Q. What is an arms-length sale?

A. An arms-length sale is a sale between a willing buyer and willing seller for a fair market value. Arms-length sales do not include sales between related individuals or sales that occur under duress.

Q. Where can I find property sales that occurred more than 10 years ago?

A. Check with your county clerk’s office for older sales.

Q. Does Sales Web include all property transfers?

A. Property buyers or sellers are required to file Form RP-5217 for all property transfers, except the following, which are not included in Sales Web:

individual cemetery plots
co-op transfers
right-of-ways
easements
sales of mineral rights

Rates for School Apportionment

This application is available for school districts to access the equalization rates they’ll use to apportion school taxes. To learn more about equalization rates and the apportionment process, visit Equalization rates.
