STAR Credit Eligible Report (Report #8) now available
The STAR Credit Eligible Report is now available in the Online Assessment Community for localities where school tax bills are issued on or around September 1.
The STAR Credit Eligible Report lists property owners who will receive the 2025 STAR credit from our department.
If a registered property owner does not appear on your report, this does not mean they won’t receive a STAR credit this year; we continue to approve registrations daily after this report is issued.
Use the reports to update your roll file with STAR credit recipients before tax bill processing so the required language* appears on appropriate school tax bills.
For complete instructions, see STAR Credit Eligible Report (Report #8) Instructions.
RPSV4 users: You can run the STAR Credit Update Utility to update your roll file. After running the report in the Online Assessment Community, click the Export RPS Bulk File button for the report. The instructions linked to above include step-by-step instructions for the utility.
* Required language for STAR credit recipients: An estimated STAR credit has been or will be issued to you by the NYS Tax Department. Any overpayment or underpayment can be reconciled on your next tax return or STAR credit.
Reminder: Final Roll Corrections Report (Report #7) now available to most municipalities
If you submitted your final roll to us by July 10, your Final Roll Corrections Report (Report #7) is now available in the Online Assessment Community (OAC). If you submitted your final (or amended) roll to ORPTS after July 10, we will issue your report at a later date.
Report #7 includes the following:
- disparities between the final assessment roll and Reports #1, 2, and 3
- changes to our determination due to a taxpayer responding to our mailing
- flags for parcels that have missing or incomplete IVP enrollments
- IVP enrollments that have been closed
State aid application deadline
If you’re seeking state aid for a 2025 reassessment, complete the Application for State Aid (RP-1573-ACR-A). The deadline is October 1, 2025.

The Assessor and Director Hotline is only for you and your staff
Don’t provide the Assessor and Director Hotline telephone number to property owners. When homeowners call the Assessor and Director Hotline, we instruct them to call the STAR helpline at 518-457-2036. To avoid waiting for a representative, that number includes an option for taxpayers to receive a call back.
For the shortest wait times, please advise homeowners to call first thing in the morning. Our representatives are available weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Reminder: Use the new Municipal Data Portal
Please be sure to bookmark the Municipal Data Portal landing page or use the links from our website so you can always access the modernized versions of Municipal Profiles, Sales Web, and Rates for School Apportionment.
The old applications have been disabled, so you’ll no longer be redirected to the correct site from an old bookmark. You should delete all old bookmarks and clear your browsing history if having trouble.

FYI: Recent email blasts to municipal, county, and school officials
If you will be reappointed and your municipal leaders have not yet submitted the appointment/reappointment form to ORPTS, please encourage them to do so as soon as possible. Here are the reminders we sent last week.
School tax rates are crucial to calculate STAR credits. We sent a request to school officials for their tax rates last week, so that our department can process STAR credits. We will reach out to school districts individually if we don’t receive their tax rates promptly.
