10/26/2020 Assessment Community Weekly

Happy Halloween! Don’t forget to set your clocks back this weekend!

STAR exemption income worksheets

We’ve begun mailing income worksheets and cover letters to some STAR exemption recipients. We need additional income information from these property owners to determine whether they’re eligible for an Enhanced STAR benefit.

If you are approached by a property owner regarding the worksheet, you are authorized by law to provide assistance. You can also direct the property owner to the phone number on the cover letter: 518-457-2036.

Deadline for conference reimbursement

If you attended the New York State Assessors Association Conference on October 5 and 6, you can receive tuition reimbursement for up to 12 credits (4 sessions).

To request reimbursement, within 30 days (November 4) of the first date of the conference, make sure to provide your completion certificate and reimbursement vouchers to ORPTS via one of the following methods:

This week’s quiz

Staying with the county theme this week . . .

Many of our counties have names derived from Native American languages. In fact, the name of one county means lovely in a Native American language, while another means bad smelling banks. Which counties are they? (Hint: They share a border).

Look for the answer next week!
