Weekly E-Newsletter of the Office of Real Property Tax Services

The past couple of weeks have been very busy—and very gratifying—as we met with hundreds of you at your respective conferences.

In between the conferences, we collaborated with the ACES pilots on various topics related to the future system.

The outreach continues and culminates in today’s meeting with the Real Property Tax Administration Committee.

Many thanks to all of you who listened and engaged regarding the many aspects of administering the property tax. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work with so many outstanding individuals and your associations.

Last but by no means least: To newly elected Presidents Scott Shedler and Barry Baker, we wish you the very best for your terms. We look forward to working with you and your colleagues!

Extended hours continue for homeowners trying to reach our STAR call center

Our STAR call center is offering more hours to help homeowners with questions about their STAR credits. This week homeowners can call the STAR helpline at 518-457-2036 from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Tip of the week for new assessors and directors – the Online Assessment Community

Last week we welcomed new local assessment officials and launched a new Welcome webpage to assist you. In the upcoming weeks, we’ll include a new tip each week for you.

This week, we provide a brief introduction to the Online Assessment Community (OAC) – a secure site for ORPTS and local officials to share information.

Access to the OAC is a must for all assessors and county property tax directors, as well as for some of your staff.

To get access to the OAC, see the instructions on the Welcome webpage.

Once you get access, here’s some of what you’ll find (we’ll provide more info about each of these topics in future weeks):

  • Training Portal
  • Property sales reports
  • Enhanced STAR Income Verification Program Tool
  • Eligibility reports for STAR exemption and credit
  • SalesWeb (10 years of property sales data)
  • Parcel, Sale, and Inventory Data (aka The Data Warehouse)
  • RPSV4 updates
  • State owned land reports
  • Valuation guidelines
  • School District Levy Simulator
  • Data Collection Assessor’s Manual

Don’t delay. Submit your request to get access as soon as possible!
