12/15/2025 Assessment Community Weekly

ORPTS Communications team updates

Please join us in welcoming Christine Douglass as the new Manager of our Communications, Outreach, and Educational Services (COEDS) team in ORPTS. In addition to 21 years of experience in the Southern Region, Christine brings with her an educational background in both English and Communications, making her a perfect fit for COEDS!

“I am proud of the relationships I’ve developed with the assessment community in the south and I look forward to meeting and working with assessors throughout the state!” Christine Douglass exclaimed.

Fear not, Geoffrey Gloak is still nearby. After decades in ORPTS Communications, he is transitioning to lead our Full Value Measurement operations, which include Equalization and Special Rates, Regional Operations, Special Valuation and Fiscal Support, and Valuation Services.

Please join us in congratulating both on these new roles!

New STAR in-person income reporting events

To date, we have mailed nearly 90,000 RP-5300-WSC letters to impacted STAR exemption recipients across the state.

This week, we will be hosting events in Buffalo and Yonkers for homeowners who received a letter requesting their income.

At these events, Tax Department employees will help homeowners submit their income information and answer any other questions about the STAR program.

Homeowners may also submit their income information using the Homeowner Benefit Portal, our STAR Income Worksheet or by contacting us at 518-457-2036.

For more information and the schedule of the events, see Did you receive an income request letter for STAR?

If you are contacted by a property owner about the RP-5300-WSC or one of these events, please direct them to our STAR Resource Center featuring our new Respond to a STAR letter page.

You may also contact the Assessor and County Director Hotline by phone at 518-457-9053 or via email at Assessor.hotline@tax.ny.gov for additional assistance. Please remember, assessor hotline resources are for assessors and county directors and should not be shared with taxpayers.
