Form IT-201, Resident Income Tax Return

Electronic filing for income tax is closed; you cannot submit e-filed income tax returns until the new filing season opens in 2024.  We anticipate the season will open in mid-January

We've partnered with the Free File Alliance again to offer you more options to e-file your New York State income tax return—at no cost!

Am I eligible to Free File?

You may be eligible for Free File using one of the software providers below, if:

  • your federal adjusted gross income (AGI) is $41,000 or less regardless of age, or
  • you are 57 years old or younger with a federal adjusted gross income (AGI) of $60,000 or less, or
  • your federal AGI was $73,000 or less and you served as Active Duty Military (including Reservists and National Guard).

Remember, no matter which option is right for you, e-file is always the fastest, easiest, safest choice!
