RPTL section 512. Alternate grievance days
Note: Section 512 of the RPTL generally provides that the Board of Assessment Review shall convene to hear complaints regarding assessments on the fourth Tuesday of May. Subdivision 1-a authorizes an assessing unit to adopt an alternate Grievance Day by local law when its assessor also serves as the assessor for one or more other assessing units. This list identifies the assessing units that have done so and have filed a copy of their local laws with the Tax Department. It should be understood that some assessing units have Grievance Days other than the standard date for reasons unrelated to RPTL section 512, such as because their dates are set by special legislation. Those assessing units are not included on this list. To ascertain the Grievance Day for a particular assessing unit, contact the assessor’s office or visit our Municipal Profiles page.
