During this timeframe, you will be unable to create, log in to, or complete any transactions in your Online Services account.

If you must file during this timeframe, you may file a paper form. If you must pay a bill, use our Quick Pay application, which does not require you to log in. If you received an income request letter (Form RP-5300-WSC), use our STAR Income Worksheet tool.

Income worksheets for Enhanced STAR exemption hitting mailboxes

We have begun mailing income worksheets to seniors for whom we need additional income information to determine eligibility for the Enhanced STAR exemption. We mail the worksheets with this cover letter.

If you're an assessor who is contacted by a senior about the income worksheet or the letter, you are authorized to help them complete the worksheet. We encourage you to use the online worksheet by following the instructions on the homeowner’s letter.

Please direct homeowners with questions about the letter or worksheet to call us at 518-457-2036.

Reminder: NYS Tax Return Deceased Report (Report #10) is now available

The NYS Tax Return Deceased Report (Report #10) is now available in the Online Assessment Community to assessors and county directors.

The report lists property owners who:

  • are receiving or registered for a STAR benefit, and
  • were reported as deceased on a recent New York State income tax return.

This report is for your information; you are not required to take action based on the report. If you choose to use the information in this report, before making any changes to your files, you may wish to cross reference it against local information on the Internet or other sources.

If you come across a property owner that is erroneously listed in the report (that is, they’re not deceased), it is almost certainly due to information mistakenly reported on an income tax return. You can notify us at assessor.report.feedback@tax.ny.gov, and we will update the report when it is next published.
