You may electronically file (e-file) your New York State return for tax years 2023, 2024, and 2025, and estimated tax for tax year 2026 using approved commercial software. Electronically filed returns generally have fewer errors and are processed faster. You can receive your refund up to two weeks sooner when you e-file.
We offer a list of approved commercial software developers who will accurately format and submit your information to the Tax Department. This approval does not imply that we endorse the quality of the software and there may be an associated cost for use of the software.
