You are not eligible to receive a check for the STAR credit because your property is a rental.
If you receive this letter (RP-5310-DLR), you registered with our department for the STAR credit but you are not eligible because:
- your income tax return indicates that the property generates rental income, and
- our records indicate that the property is a one-family house or co-operative unit.
To be eligible to receive a check for the STAR credit, your property must be the primary residence of at least one of the owners. Primary residence is generally defined as a home where you reside for more than half of the year.
