Newspaper and broadcast media jobs credit
Who can claim the credit?
Print and broadcast media businesses may be eligible for the refundable newspaper and broadcast media jobs credit, administered by Empire State Development (ESD). Taxpayers must apply to ESD to obtain a certificate of tax credit listing the amount of credit.
For more information about the newspaper and broadcast media jobs credit program and application process, visit the Empire State Development website.
How much is the credit?
The credit has two components:
- the new job creation credit component, which allows an eligible business that increases employment to claim a credit equal to $5,000 for each new full-time employee, up to $20,000; and
- the existing job credit component, which allows an eligible business to claim a credit equal to 50% of an eligible employee’s first $50,000 of annual wages, up to $300,000.
The total credit amount cannot exceed $300,000 per eligible business for both credit components.
