The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance today reminded monthly and quarterly sales tax filers that returns are due no later than 11:59 p.m. Friday, September 20.

The department urges filers to take advantage of convenient online resources. Sales Tax Web File makes filing easy, fast, and flexible—allowing returns to be Web filed early and payments scheduled up until the due date.

Please see our website for sales tax demos, videos, and other filing guidance.

Sales Tax Web File is free to use and allows payments to be made directly from a checking or savings account. The software securely encrypts your private information and allows bank account information to be saved for future payments.

Registered sales tax filers must submit sales tax returns even if they had no taxable sales, taxable purchases, or credits to report. They face penalties if they don’t meet their filing obligations.

To Web File:

  1. Log in to your Online Services account.
  2. Select Sales tax – file and pay under the Services heading.
  3. Select Sales Tax Web File from the drop-down menu.
  4. Complete the return and click the Submit button.
  5. Print the filing confirmation page for your records.
