Deadlines extended for storm-impacted counties

As a result of the State Disaster Emergency declared by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, the Tax Department has extended to December 15, 2014 certain tax filing and payment deadlines for taxpayers who were directly affected by the strong lake effect snowstorms.

The extension applies to deadlines occurring from November 18, 2014 to December 14, 2014. This includes, but is not limited to, deadlines for:

  • filing any returns, such as the monthly sales tax return (Form ST-809) due November 20,
  • paying any tax or installment of tax (see Exceptions below),
  • filing any requests for extensions of time to file,
  • filing for a credit or refund, and
  • filing for redetermination of a deficiency, or an application for review of a decision.

Exceptions

Payment deadlines occurring from November 18, 2014 to November 30, 2014 are extended to December 1, 2014 for: 

  • employers filing Form NYS-1, Return of Tax Withheld, and
  • PrompTax filers.
